Depaving – phase 2
by xabiergranja on Jun.16, 2010, under Construction and Repairs
So, I’ve been away for a month but I’m back. When I came back last week, all the concrete from the first phase was taken out in pieces. After this, 2 days ago now, Glenn and I took all those concrete chunks and placed them in the front of the phase 2 area (you can see below in the picture), where more planting surface will be prepared eventually.
This is looking good!!
Tuck-pointing update
by xabiergranja on Oct.08, 2009, under Construction and Repairs
As most of you know already, the tuck-pointing in our building took place a few days ago. The workers focused on the 24th St side of the house and red front door, as far as I have seen. I took the liberty of taking a few pictures of our hired men at work, for those who feel curious. The scaffolding is now gone too, so my watch for kids playing with it and potentially hurting themselves is now over. Till the next update!!
Green Roof planted!
by TedErnst on Sep.29, 2008, under Construction and Repairs
Since last time, we’ve planted the sedum on the roof! Yesterday was had a good crew up on the roof, cutting 6 spots in each bag of rocks (that’s 215 bags of very small rocks, for those counting at home), then planting one cute little sedum seedling in each cut spot. I think there were five kinds of sedum. In any event, the roof is now fully planted, and we had a flat or two left over. Hopefully we can find a spot for them for the winter so we can fill in any spots on the roof that don’t make it until spring. And now for some photos:
More cutting (watch out for the edge!)

Seriously, no falling!
